Steve Barnes, 58, of Versailles, died Thursday, August 4, 2011.
He was born Sept. 25, 1952, in Alameda, Calif. to Samuel B. (Catherine) Barnes and the late Barbara Jury Barnes. He was a member of Southland Christian Church, proudly served in the Army for 20 years and was also named Army Recruiter of the Year numerous times.
He is survived by his wife Nina Murphy Barnes; his father, Samuel B. (Catharine) Barnes; a son, Eric Barnes of Bardstown; a daughter, Stephenie Barnes of Louisville; two sisters, Donna B. (Larry) Wheeler of Bardstown, and Becky (Lynn) Terrell of Chaplin; a stepsister, Cirris (Matt) Hatfield of Murray; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Rd., Nicholasville. Burial is in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Terrell, Daniel Wheeler, Travis Yates, Matt Dykes, Ryan Barnes and David Floyd.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Rd, Nicholasville, Ky.
In honor of Steve’s life and legacy, donations can be made in his memory to American Cancer Society.
