Hubert Leon ‘P.O.’ Clopton, 84, Magnolia

Hubert Leon “P.O.” Clopton, 84, of Magnolia, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Hurstbourne Care Center of Louisville. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Magnolia. He was a retired carpenter with more than 50 years of service.  He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in LaRue County to Willard and Cora Beauchamp Clopton.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Creed, Courtland, George and Lyndle Clopton; and two sisters, Mary Waters and Lura Howell.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Versie Thompson Clopton of Magnolia; one sister, Marjorie (Eugene) French of Hodgenville; two grandchildren, Connie Wright and Derek Wright; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be no funeral services or visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benningfield Chapel Cemetery in Magnolia in his honor.

Rust-Wright Funeral Home, 612 North Lincoln Blvd., in Hodgenville is in charge of the arrangements.
