Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, 11 p.m. — The three people involved in the crash of a private plane in LaRue County have been identified. The pilot was Joshua Marksbury, 31, of Buffalo, his wife Jamie Marksbury and their four-year-old son, Jacob.

Marksbury has been identified as a pilot employed by Honaker Aviation, the company that operates Nelson County’s Samuels Field, the airport just west of Bardstown.

The crash happened at about 3:30 Monday afternoon while Marksbury was piloting the plane on take-off from a private airfield near Hodgenville. Witnesses said it appeared the airplane lost power or stalled on take-off. The plane clipped a tree and hit a guy wire before coming to rest on US31E in front of Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

Joshua Marksbury was reportedly in serious condition at University of Louisville Hospital. His wife and son sustained minor injuries in the crash, Louisville media have reported.

Honaker Aviation operates Samuels Field, the Bardstown airport, as well the airport in Sellersburg, Ind., providing a variety of services including aircraft sales, service and training.
