Two injured in three-vehicle injury crash on Springfield Road
Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, 4:08 p.m. — Two people were injured Tuesday afternnoon in a three-vehicle accident involving two passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer rig.
The accident happened in the 3200 block of US150, Springfield Road, near Bardstown Auto Wreckers. The crash blocked both lanes of US150, backing up traffic for more than a mile in both directions. Traffic was diverted around the crash via Parkway Drive to Woodlawn and Poplar Flat roads, with the Bardstown Police assisting with traffic control. The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the scene to help extricate one of the victims from a vehicle.
One of the injured was a 42-year-old man who complained of left hip pain and shortness of breath. The second injured person was a 22-year-old woman complaining of left hip pain. The injured were taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County EMS.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. The accident was reported about 3:55 p.m. Tuesday.
