Fast action prevents Henrytown home fire from spreading
Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, 4:20 p.m. — Quick thinking by a resident in a Henrytown home prevented what could have been a greater loss of property Sunday afternoon due to a fire in the home’s electrical panel.
The Bardstown Fire Department was called to a reported fire in an electrical breaker box at 613 Pulliam Ave about 4 p.m. When the incident commander arrived, he reported a resident in the home had extinguished the fire with the use of a fire extinguisher. Firefighters checked the home to see if the fire had spread outside the breaker box area. A representative with the city electric utility was called, and the American Red Cross was called to assist the home’s residents with immediate shelter needs.
