Obituary: Mary Loreen Holloway, 85, Bardstown

Mary Loreen Holloway, 85, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Landmark of Bardstown. She was born March 18, 1937, in Nelson County to the late James Hamilton “Dago” and Margaret Jomonica Ballard Hutchins. She was a retired receptionist for the Visiting Nurses Association and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in New Hope.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Doc” Holloway; one daughter, Patricia Rose Priddy; and four sisters, Wanda Cecil, Sabina Taylor, Doreen Woods and Peggy Clark.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Carl) Newton of Shepherdsville and Cecelia Ann (Sonny) Gaunterman of Lexington, Ind.; four sons, Joseph Charles (Brenda) Wimsatt and James William (Jackie) Wimsatt, both of Scottsburg, Ind., Robert Matthew (Joanne) Wimsatt of Jeffersontown, and Thomas Allen Wimsatt of Fairfield; one sister, Lana Richardson of Bardstown; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The family followed Loreen’s wishes for cremation. Burial is 11 a.m. March 18, 2023, at Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
