Obituary: Judy Garland Blackwell Lewis, 72, Bardstown

Judy Garland Blackwell Lewis, 72, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at her home. She was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Columbia. She was a member of Campbell Chapel AME Zion of Bloomfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Butch” William Lewis Jr.; her parents, Robert and Ruth Blackwell; one brother, Bob Blackwell Jr.; and one sister, Ruth Ann Blackwell.

She is survived by four children, Germaine Weathers and Benny Richardson Jr, both of Louisville, Bentoria Richardson of Atlanta, and Marie Fulton of Virginia; three sisters, Rannie Blackwell, Marilyn Blackwell, and Sharon Brown;
five brothers, Charlie Blackwell, Ronnie Blackwell, Dale Blackwell, Keith Blackwell, and Kelly Blackwell; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one
aunt, Lucille Graves; a longtime friend, Ala Dean Walkup; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Barlow Funeral Home, with a burial in Lebanon National Cemetery at11 a.m. Jan. 30, 2023, with the Rev. Harriet McElvaney, Rev. Erich Shumake, and Rev. Rivers C. Sumpter officiating.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the funeral home.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
