City council approves county project to extend Brothers Lane water main

Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2023 — The Bardstown City Council approved a request to provide city water to homes on Brothers Lane.
The project is one proposed by Nelson Fiscal Court using the county’s American Rescue Plan Act monies. According to City Engineer Jessica Filiatreau, the county is handling the design and will oversee construction.
The council delayed the approval of the request at their last meeting until they received some additional information regarding the project, including the number of homes the water line extension will serve.
HRB CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATENESS. The council approved certificates of appropriateness regarding six properties in the city’s Historic District.

COA-23-04. F&S Landscape applicant, Dan Sutherland owner. Approval for landscaping at 310 South Fifth St.
COA 23-05. Harry L. Seeger IV applicant, Elizabeth Seeger, owner. Approved request to remove a tree at 208 W. Flaget Ave.
COA 23-07. Amy Hurst applicant, ARD LLC owner. Approval for new awnings and paint colors for windows and doors at 305 North Third St.
COA-23-08. Raffo Wimsett III, applicant/owner. Approve the removal of a tree at 114 East Brashear Ave.
COA-22-119. Caitlin Buzick applicant/owner. Approved landscape changes at 211 West Flaget Ave.
APPOINTMENTS. The council approved the following board appointments:
— Daniel Jeffries, 3 year terms on the Tree Board, Jan. 24, 2023.
— Mark Mathis, 4-year-term on Bardstown Board of Adjustment, Feb. 28, 2023.
— Mark Mathis, 4-year-terms Joint City-County Planning Commission, Feb. 28, 2023.
— Martin Carpenter, 4-year terms on the Bardstown Board of Adjustment, Feb 28, 2023.
