Obituary: Phyllis Gritton, 74, Bloomfield
Phyllis Gritton, 74, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Windsor Gardens in Bardstown. She was born May 8, 1948, in Bloomfield to the late Edward “Ed” and Wilma “Shorty” Whitehouse Gritton. She was a retired teacher for Eli Brown and Cox’s Creek Elementary School. She was a member of Bloomfield Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, playing pool, and was an avid UK fan. She had many special friends that she deeply cherished.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Lee “Mike” Gritton; two nephews, Justin Gritton and Josh Gritton; and one great-nephew.
She is survived by one brother, Eddie (Penny) Gritton of Bloomfield; three nieces, Dawn (Mike) Norton, Laura (Doug) Rice, and Lindsey (Michael) Thompson; one nephew, Sean (Emma) Gritton; and seven great-nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Nick Bateman officiating. Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at the funeral home.
