Obituary: Dorothy Irene ‘Dottie’ Owens Gebhart, 73, Elizabethtown

Dorothy Irene “Dottie” Owens Gebhart, 73, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1949, in New Haven to her parents, Jack and Helen Smith Owens.

She was a former employee for General Motors and a member of New Hope Community Church. She had a passion for children in need. She was the head cook of Mission Hope for Kids for 15 years. She enjoyed crafting, camping and most of all sharing the love of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Culver; and four brothers, Joe Owens, Paul Owens, Cyril Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Chuck Gebhart; one daughter, Melissa Johansen (Michael); one son, Steve Owens (Angela); two sisters, Catherine Skinner (Gary) and Frances “Sissy” Davis; and four grandchildren, Helanah Scalf (Chandler), David Gebhart, Stephen Owens and James Gebhart.

Cremation has been chosen with a memorial service to be announced at a later date.
