Obituary: Cecil Ray Baker, 73, Bardstown

Cecil Ray Baker, 73, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, in Lexington at his son’s home. He was born Dec. 26, 1949, in Lebanon to Cecil Thomas and Beedie Marie Hardin Baker. He was retired from General Electric. He liked watching westerns on television. In his younger days, he was a shade tree mechanic, helping people fix their cars. He was a member of Wickland Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Mary Valley Baker; one sister, Glenda Lyvers; and one brother, Steven Baker.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Baker of Bardstown; two sons, Michael (Sherry) Baker of Lexington and John Baker of Bardstown; his mother, Beedie Marie Hardin Baker; three sisters, Rita Grubbs of Elizabethtown, Theresa Lyvers of Lebanon Junction and Cecelia “Deedee” Reynolds; and three grandchildren, Jack Baker, Lucy Baker and Magnus Heck.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
