Obituary: ‘Joe’ Russell Wigginton, 68, Bardstown

“Joe” Russell Wigginton, 68, of Bardstown, returned to his heavenly home Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at his home. He was born April 28, 1954, in Bardstown to the late Alfred and Elizabeth Thompson Wigginton. He was a retired employee of Heaven Hill Distillery after 46 years and was a member of Bardstown Church of God. He loved going to his granddaughter’s ball games, enjoyed fishing, had a strong faith in God, and was a friend to all he knew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Williams; and two brothers, Alfred Wigginton and George Wigginton.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Smith Wigginton; two sons, Joey (Katie) Wigginton and Jordan Wigginton, both of Bardstown; two sisters, Betty Rose Downs of Bardstown and Martha (Dickie) Mason of Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Lacee Brown and Candace Wigginton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, with Bro. Bill Adams officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
