Police charge 3 with human trafficking, prostitution charges at local Asian spas

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 (updated Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023) — On Wednesday, the Bardstown Police Department arrested three people in the wake of a human trafficking investigation at two Bardstown Asian spas.

City police officers executed search warrants at Mi Ya Ko Spa, 624 N. Third St, and Sunrise Massage & Body Work at 806 Morton Ave. Officers arrested three people in connection with human trafficking charges and permitting prostitution.

Human trafficking victims were located and both spa locations, and Catholic Charities was called in to provide for the victim’s immediate needs.

Myong Hui Evans, 69, and Guihua Fang, 48, both of Bardstown, and Shizhe Jin, 53, of Louisville, were charged with human trafficking and permitting prostitution. The three were arrested just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8th and lodged in the Nelson County Correctional Center in Bardstown.

The three were each held on $10,000 cash bond. As of Thursday evening, Feb. 9, 2023, only Guihua Fang had posted bond and been released from jail. According to the jail logs, she was released at 11:06 a.m. Thursday morning, Feb. 9, 2023.

The Bardstown Police Department was assisted by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, the Kentucky Attorney General’s office, and Catholic Charities.
