Obituary: Lucy Marie Ballard, 67, Loretto

Lucy Marie Ballard, 67, of Loretto, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at University Hospital as a result of a stroke. She was born Feb. 28, 1955, in Marion County to the late Charles William and Marie Martina Mattingly Brown. She was a former employee of Citizens National Bank in Lebanon with more than 20 years of service. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Joseph I. Ballard; one daughter, Kimberly Marie Brussell (Robbie) of Danville; four sisters, Rosemary Dawson (Ken) of Prospect, Linda Sue Smith (Charlie) and Betty Lou Mudd (Mike), both of Springfield and Benita Hamilton (Danny) of Louisville; three brothers, Billy Brown (Pat) of Lebanon, Joey Brown (Lina) of Saint Louis, Mo., and John Patrick Brown (Simone) of Bardstown; and two grandchildren, Braylee and Blake.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. Richard Goodin officiating. Burial is in St. Charles Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at the Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with a 6 p.m. prayer service.

Pallbearers are John Brown, Billy Brown, Joey Brown, Greg Smith, Blake Brussell and Mike Nusbaum.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
