Obituary: Dorothy Mae Kelty Marshall, 75, Bardstown

Dorothy Mae Kelty Marshall, 75, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at the Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx. She was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Marion County and worked at Kroger.

She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, where she served on many committees including most recently the bereavement committee. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music, singing songs to anyone who wanted to listen. She made sure no one ever went hungry and would feed anyone she could including those that worked on her house. She wouldn’t let anyone leave her house empty-handed, making sure they took food, furniture, clothing, or money. She traveled to 40 states and enjoyed getting off the beaten path. She and her husband lived part-time in WaKeeney, Kan., in a cottage. Most of all she loved her family and friends, especially her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Alice Genevie Kelty; two sisters, Barbara Donahue and Betsey Mattingly; and two brothers, Charles Kelty and Jimmy Mattingly.

She is survived by her loving husband, Teddy Marshall of Bardstown; three daughters, Kelly Marshall (Leslie) Kelly of Lawrenceburg, Kasey Marshall (Andy) Dendinger of Louisville, and Sarah Marshall (Jason) Thompson of Bardstown; one sister, Judy Nalley; and six grandchildren, Alex Kelly, Ethan (Amanda) Kelly, Cody Hack, Emily Dendinger, Seth (Alex) Thompson, and Brett Thompson.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Reeves officiating with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, and 9-10:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Barlow Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s charity of choice.
