Obituary: Christopher Steven ‘Chris’ Nelson, 51, Bardstown

Christopher Steven “Chris” Nelson, 51, of Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Jewish and UofL Health in Louisville. He was born on April 20, 1971, in Los Angeles to the late Steven Eugene Nelson and Monica Logsdon McIntosh. He was the owner/operator of Prestige Plastics in Brooks. He was a long-time girls soccer coach for Bethlehem High School, Travelling Elite and the recreational team at Dean Watts Park. When he wasn’t on a soccer field, he loved to fish, kayak and spending time with his family. He was known as a social butterfly telling stories to anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deanna Beavers Nelson; two daughters, Rachel (James) Brielmeier of Timonium, Md., and Haley Nelson of Bardstown; his mother, Monica Logsdon McIntosh of Mount Washington; and one brother, Daniel (Heather) Nelson of Lebanon Junction.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
