Obituary: Larry Wayne Payton, 75, Bardstown

Larry Wayne Payton, 75, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at his home. He was born March 5, 1947, in Bardstown to the late Author Jr. and Hazel Parkerson Payton.

He was a former employee of Bird & Son. He loved to fish and hunt, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dianne Sorrell; and one brother, Keith Payton.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Parkerson Payton; two daughters, Chrystal (Curtis) Ferguson and Tammy (Kyle) Brown, both of Bardstown; two sisters, Lana Gayle Payton and Pam Hill of Bardstown; two brothers, Charles (Erika) Payton of Grayson and Ricky (Vicki) Payton of Bardstown; and four grandchildren.

In honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen with no public services.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
