Obituary: Gary Dean Yocum, 65, Bardstown
Gary Dean Yocum, 65, of Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born on Jan. 21, 1958, in Bardstown to the late Thomas Woodrow and Doris Vittitow Yocum. He was an employee of Buzick Construction for 26 years and was currently their crew supervisor. He loved to fish, hunt and just being outdoors. His wife, Vicky, over time turned him into a UK fan. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicky Lynn Wade Yocum; one daughter, Jessica Lynn (Doc) Garvin of Bowling Green; two sons, Thomas Ray Yocum of Bardstown and Joseph Gary (Ally) Yocum of Bradfordsville; one sister, Phyllis Ann Yocum of Bardstown; one brother, Woody Keith (Stephanie) Yocum of Bardstown; and four grandchildren, Marilyn Trinity Yocum, McKayla Marie Yocum, Auther Campbell Garvin and Samuel David Garvin.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Deacon Jason Mattingly officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, and 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.
