Obituary: Catherine Reed Bryant, 99, Bardstown

Catherine Reed Bryant, 99, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1923, to the late Lem and Annie Mitchell Reed. She was a retired employee of Nukote International. She attended St. John A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church and was the oldest member there. She loved to fish.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryant; one son, Ronnie Duncan; three sisters, Mary Frances Simms, Addie Miller and Louise Cambron; and nine brothers, Frank Reed, Lem Reed, William Reed, Clarence Reed, John Ed Reed, Wesley Reed, Ernest Reed, Nelson Reed and Joseph Reed.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Girton, Charlotte Grundy and Gloria Sheckles, all of Bardstown; one son, William (Shirley) Brewer of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at St. John A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church with the Rev. Roscoe Linton and the Rev. Chad Reed officiating. Burial is in Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at the church.
