Obituary: Marion Ray Durbin, 88, formerly of Bardstown

Marion Ray Durbin, 88, formerly of Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at his home in Campbellsville. He was born May 12, 1934, in Bardstown to the late Roy Lee and Fronie Mae Nally Durbin. He was a retired construction worker operating heavy equipment. He loved to work in wood and build furniture for himself and others. He was also a master electrician, a mechanic that could make about anything run and a plumber. He was a member of Bardstown Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Catherine Riley Durbin; hid second wife, Mary Bernice Durbin; three sons, Louis Durbin, Joe Durbin and Robert Durbin; one sister,, Hazel Tharmp and two brothers, Vernon Durbin and Roy Durbin Jr.

He is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Milby, Patsy (Mitchell) Price of Bardstown, and Peggy (Lennie) Sneed of Campbellsville; four sons, John Durbin and Phillip Durbin,, both of Campbellsville, David (Ronda) Durbin of Louisville and Timmy (Brandi) Durbin of Harrodsburg; one sister, Alice Humphrey of Hardin County; three brothers, Roger Durbin of Florida, Carlos Durbin of Bardstown, and Bernard (Shirley) Durbin of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff McCarty officiating. Burial is in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, and after 9 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
