Obituary: Gary Vincent Harris, 70, Bardstown

Gary Vincent Harris, 70, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at his home. He was born April 11, 1952, to Joe Mitchell and Juanita Prewitt. He was a former cook for Lee’s Famous Recipe in Bardstown, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and golfing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Shively; one brother, James Nelson; and one niece, Michelle Williams.

He is survived by one daughter, Sarita Brown of Killeen, Texas; his companion, Barbara Grundy of Bardstown; her son, Antonio Grundy of Indiana; one granddaughter, Shaywon Hickman of Killeen, Texas; one aunt, Cecilia Marshall of Bardstown; one uncle, Jimmy (Mabel) Tucker of Campbellsville; one niece, Kim Williams of Bardstown; seven half-siblings, Ronald (Tina) Mitchell of Columbia, George Mitchell and Roderick Mitchell, both of Greensburg, Ralph (Pat) Mitchell of Illinois, Jodie (Theresa) Mitchell of Campbellsville, and Phenelphia Williams and Katherine (Tom) Kleinsieldt, both of Illinois.

The family is following his wishes for a private visitation with a burial at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery in Campbellsville.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
