Obituary: Betty Rose Downs, 72, Bardstown

Betty Rose Downs, 72, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born April 11, 1950, in Nelson County. She retired from Nazareth. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Bloomfield, a member of the Missionaries of Second Baptist Church of Bloomfield, and a member of the Star Light Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Thompson and Marvin Downs; one sister, Nancy Williams; three brothers; George Wiggington, Alfred Wiggington and Joe Wiggington; and one half-sister, Louise Wiggington.

She is survived by two sons, Nathaniel Downs and Billy Joe Downs, both of Bardstown; one sister, Martha Mason of Bloomfield; one grandson, Zachary Jackson of Bardstown; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is noon Monday, March 13, 2023, at Second Baptist Church of Bloomfield with burial in the Bloomfield Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Marshall officiating.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Monday, March 13, 2023, at the church.
