Obituary: Brandon Kyle Downs, 27, Bardstown

Brandon Kyle Downs, 27, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home. He was born Dec. 6, 1995, in Nelson County. He was employed with Bluegrass Dairy in Springfield and previously worked at Barton Distillery. He was a 2014 graduate of Thomas Nelson High School. He enjoyed playing basketball and was an avid UK fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thurman Downs,Sr. and Cecilia Reid Downs and Robert Simpson Sr.

Survivors include his parents, Phillip Duane and Deborah Lynn Simpson Downs of Loretto; two siblings, Derick Duane Downs (Christy) of Willisburg and Morgan Danielle Downs of Hodgenville; two nieces, Albrie Downs and Madelynn Downs; and his grandmother, Louise Simpson of Bardstown.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross with the Rev. Richard Goodin officiating with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
