Two charged after tips lead to officers to indoor pot growing operations

Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, 11:15 a.m. — Bardstown Police officers have charged two area men on charges related to cultivating marijuana in separate indoor marijuana growing operations.

Sean Davis Carney, 40, was cited after police, acting on a tip, visited his Springhill Drive residence just before midnight Monday. Carney gave police consent to search the premises, and officers found an indoor marijuana growing operation in the basement of his home that contained approximately 28 marijuana plants in various stages of growth.

Carney was charged with cultivating marijuana, five plants or more; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Early on Wednesday morning, Bardstown police cited a Hugh Ice Loop man on similar charges.

Michael L. Wheatley, 41, was cited by Bardstown Police after officers – acting on a tip – visited his residence. Wheatley gave officers consent to search his residence, and they discovered approximately an indoor grow operation with approximately 65 marijuana plants in an outbuilding.

Wheatley was charged with cultivating marijuana, five plants or more; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
