Bardstown-Nelson County Jaycees plan chili cook-off for Saturday, Oct. 8

Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, 8:53 p.m. — The Bardstown-Nelson County Jaycees will be hosting The Nelson County Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 8th in conjunction with the Bardstown Arts, Crafts & Antique Fair.

The cook-off is open to both individuals and team entrants as well as restaurant and corporate entries, with awards presented in each division. Individual entrants will be award cash prizes, with the top first-place prize of $500.

The cook-off will take place at the city baseball field located off West Broadway in Bardstown. The event is open to the public and sampling will be permitted and encouraged (while supplies last).

Individual entrants will begin cooking their chili on-site at noon and allowed three hours to create their best effort before presenting a cup for judging at 3 p.m. Onlookers won’t have to wait three hours for a taste of chili since all participating restaurants will begin serving their chili at noon.

The cook-off, sponsored by Budweiser, will feature live entertainment by TCB Acoustic, which features members of the loca band As Is. Admission is $5, which includes a chance at a host of door prizes and samples of the best chili in Nelson County.
