Important information from the Nelson County PVA Office

January-March 1, 2024 is the time frame designated for property owners to list all their real estate properties with the Property Valuation Administrator in the county wherein it is located. If you have built a new house, garage, barn, etc., purchased a mobile home or made any changes in your existing property since last year, it is especially important that you notify us. If you have tangible property (such as business inventories, business furniture and equipment, airplanes, etc.), please file these by May 15th.

TANGIBLE PROPERTY RETURNS FILED AFTER MAY 15TH WILL BE CONSIDERED OMITTED AND WILL BE BILLED BY THE REVENUE CABINET IN FRANKFORT (WITH INTEREST AND PENALTY).

Tangible property tax forms are available at the PVA Office.

The Homestead Exemption for 2024 will be $46,350. If you own and occupy your home and are or will be 65 years of age any time during the year, you must file an application with the PVA to be eligible for this exemption. If you are already receiving the Homestead Exemption, $ 46,350 will automatically be deducted from your 2024 assessment, and it will not be necessary for you to fill out an additional application.

The Homestead Exemption also applies to all homeowners who have been classified as totally disabled under a program authorized or administered by the United States Government or by any retirement system either within or outside Kentucky. The taxpayer must be receiving disability payments and must maintain the disability classification through December 31st.

If you qualify for the Homestead, Disability Exemption, or if you have any questions regarding the listing of your property, please contact the Nelson County Property Valuation Administration at (502) 348-1810.
