Doris J. Shewmaker, 79, Bardstown

Doris J. Shewmaker, 79, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at her residence.  She was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Washington County. She was a homemaker and attended Mill Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Shewmaker.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Shewmaker of Bardstown; two daughters, Donna (Leslie) Hurst of Bardstown, and Terri (Jeff) Blommel of Springboro, Ohio; eight sisters, Bonnie (Roy) Sanders, Ann Milburn, Ruth Hill, Ruby Broughton, Shirley Hodge, Becky Hodge, Rossie Brown, Mary Conner; two brothers, Ruben Holderman, and Jim Holderman; five grandchildren, Lacey Cole, Les Hurst, Lauren Pile, Madison Blommel, and Meredith Blommel; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept.30, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Peters Cemetery, Mackville.  Bro. Gary Chesser will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County or Mill Creek Baptist Church building fund.
