David Joseph Taylor, 48, Bardstown

David Joseph Taylor, 48, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

He was born May 8, 1963, in Bardstown. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a firefighter in Charleston, S.C., a certified transmission specialist and a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Taylor and Tony Payton; his maternal grandmother, Lucile Reesor; and an aunt, Marilyn Kelty.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Taylor; a son, Brian (Amanda) Taylor of Colorado; a daughter, Megan Taylor of Richmond Hill, Ga.; his mother, Barbara (Don) Headdy of Bardstown; his father, Thomas Taylor of Florida; two brothers, Shawn (Lisa) Taylor of Marshall, Mich., and Kevin (Beth) Payton of Bardstown; a sister, Danielle (Chris) Cox of Prospect; two stepsisters, Cindy Clampitt and Teri (Jeff) Richardson, both of Indiana; a granddaughter, Bailey Taylor; a special uncle, Richard Kelty; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Deacon Joe Livers will officiate. A military honors service will be provided by the US Navy at the gravesite.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nelson County Public Library or the American Diabetes Association.
