Faulty smoke detector forces evacuation of local assisted living

Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, 6:40 p.m. — A faulty smoke detector led to the evacuation of Bluegrass Assisted Living, 107 Thruway Drive, about 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Bardstown Fire Department responded to the alarm and investigated the activation. Firefighters checked the facility and its attic to insure there was no fire. Firefighters determined a smoke detector malfunction was the cause of the alarm.
