McKayla Jean ‘Kayla’ Sallee, 14, Bloomfield
McKayla Jean (“K.K.” or “Kayla”) Sallee, 14, of Bloomfield, died Monday Oct. 17, 2011, due to an auto accident. She was born Monday, July 29, 1997, in Bardstown. She was a freshman at Nelson County High School, a member of FFA and Open Door Christian Center, formally Big Springs Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Jackie Lee; maternal great-grandmother, Louise Miller; paternal grandfather, James Sallee; and great-aunt, Kathy Goff.
She is survived by her parents, Leonard and Kimberly Sallee; a sister, Megan Sallee; a brother, Cory (Miranda Campbell) Sallee, all of Bloomfield; her maternal grandmother, Jean Lee of Bloomfield; her paternal grandmother, Judy Mae Sallee of Covington; three aunts, Laurie (Rodney) Hahn of Bloomfield, Angela (Gene Brown) Kappell of Bloomfield, and Sue Smith of Covington; six cousins, Jackie Kappell, Austin Kappell, Dakota Hall, Abigail Hahn, Emma Hahn, and Kimberly Johnson; and dear friends, Justin Case and Orville Case.
The funeral is 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Open Door Christian Center, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomfield. The Rev. Mavis Bennett will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Barlow Funeral Home, and 12-3 p.m. Friday at Open Door Christian Church.
