Marietta Bowling Blandford, 92, Louisville
Marietta Bowling Blandford 92, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at North Hardin Nursing Home, in Radcliff. She was born on March 22, 1919, in New Haven to James Nicholas Bowling and Mary Irene Boone. She was a graduate of St. Catherine High School and was employed by the Bank of New Haven several years before moving to Louisville to become purchasing agent for Our Lady of Peace Hospital. She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Shively for nearly 35 years where she was active in the Altar Society and the Quilting Club.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Clement Leroy (Roy) Blandford; a stepson, William (Billy) Blandford; a stepdaughter, Malinda Blandford; a sister, Sr. Mary Janette OSU; four brothers, the Rev. George K. Bowling, Martin Bolwing, William Paul Bowling and the Rev. Robert a. Bowling; and a sister-in-law Anna Rose Bowling.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Sharon Bidwell and Bonnie Abell, both of Louisville; one sister, Mary Louise Bowling of Louisville; five sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Martin) Bowling, Rosanne (William Paul) Bowling, Rose Blandford Cusick, Margaret (Joe) Blandford, Daisy (Harry) Blandford; her caregivers, Paula Bowling Greenwell of Elizabethtown and Doris Bowling Rust of New Haven; and several nieces, nephews & step grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at St. Catharine Church in New Haven.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, and 9-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven. Burial will be at Bethany Memorial Gardens, 10915 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Ky.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to Mass of the Air, Hosparus, or St. Catherine of Alexandria School in New Haven.
