Alice M. Hardin, 82, Balltown
Alice M. Hardin, 82, Balltown, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at her residence with her loving family at her side.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, New Haven Senior Citizens, TOPS 224, and past member of the Ladies Auxiliary 121, Bardstown. She worked through the years as a teacher’s aide, housekeeper, babysitter and later in life as a security guard. But mostly she was a housewife and mother to her 11 children.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth C. Hardin; two sons, Michael Timothy Hardin and Joseph Anthony Hardin; parents, Bernard and Mary Alice Ball Hutchins; four brothers, JC Hutchins, Bill Hutchins, Dago Hutchins, and Frankie Hutchins; and four sisters, Anna Loraine (Johnnie) Duncan, Unabell Pendergraft, Rosaleen Spalding, and Bernadine Parrent.
She is survived by six daughters, Mary Alice Wethington of Liberty, Ellen Elaine (James) Lott of Brundidge, Ala., Connie (Kenny) Maxwell of Buffalo, Janell (Donald) Downs of Bardstown, Anita Stephens of Taylorsville, and Joyce Clements of Bardstown; three sons, Richard (Liz) Hardin of Bardstown, Kenny (Shelia) Hardin of Taylorsville, and Dennis Hardin of New Haven; one sister, Melissa Greenwell of Bardstown; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Deacon Sam Filiatreau will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Barlow Funeral Home.
