Daniel E. ‘Dan’ Richard, 67, Chaplin

Daniel E. “Dan” Richard, 67, of Chaplin, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at his home. He was a native of Washington County. a retired teacher and school administrator, having worked in Washington County, Bloomfield Middle School and Nelson County High School. He was a member of the board of directors of the Northeast Nelson Fire District, a board member of the Highview Cemetery Company, and a member of Chaplin Baptist Church. He was a member of the 1962 Bloomfield High School Basketball team that played in the Kentucky State High School Basketball tournament.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Richard.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Virgin Richard; one daughter, Stacie (Vince) Wimsett  of New Haven; one son, Chris (Tina) Richard of Bardstown; his mother, Beulah Richard of Chaplin; and a granddaughter Lacey Richard.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, from the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield by Brother Lee Cox. Burial will be in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 12-8 p.m. Saturday at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County or the James Graham Brown Cancer center at Campbellsville.
