Obituary: David Harold Hall, 87, Bardstown

David Harold Hall, 87, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, with his family by his side in University of Louisville Hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Cox’s Creek to the late Thomas Harold and Pauline Heady Hall. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Boy Scouts when he was young.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was past president of the Kentucky Archery Association. In the 50’s and 60’s, he worked for WBRT. He was a former gauger for the ATF and wrote a column in the Kentucky Standard called the Old Nelson Notebook. He was a preservation historian and served as the Historic Zoning Administrator for the City of Bardstown from 1986-2008.

He is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Amber) Hall of Louisville; one brother, Thomas L. (Helen) Hall of Bardstown; three grandchildren, Alex Hall, Eli Hite and Hayden Tuten; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service with the Rev. Randy Hubbard officiation. Cremation will follow the service.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
