One-car crash knocks power out to parts of Greenbrier, Melody Lake

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, 11:55 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Salt River Electric were called out about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday to the area near the Greenbrier Store for a single-car accident. According to dispatchers, residents out KY 49 all the way to Holy Cross Road and Melody Lake reported electrical power was out. A deputy found an abandoned, white, Ford Taurus registered to a Loretto man that had run off the roadway and struck a utility pole knocking down the wires. A Salt River Electric crew were on the scene by midnight to repair the outage. The investigating officer asked dispatchers to contact local hospitals in the event the driver seeks treatment of his injuries.
