Obituary: Gracie ‘Dolly’ Mae Shelton, 87, Hodgenville

Gracie “Dolly” Mae Shelton, 87, of Hodgenville, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid quilter, and loved her family and friends. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She also enjoyed canning. She was a retired employee of Elizabethtown Sportswear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland “Tommy” Shelton; her parents, Linnie and Selma Bell Gardner; and siblings, Mary Margaret Skaggs, Carl Leroy, Linnie, Marvin, Harrison “Shorty”, James “Tubby”, and Henry Gardner.

He is survived by five children, Dorothy Lynn Kinyon, Hank (Michelle) Shelton, Joe (Melcenia) Shelton, Crystal (Larry) Bruner, Patty (Billy) Ford; three sisters, Martha “Jean” Bianco, Loris Lee (Stephen), and Mary Gibson (Garland); three brothers, Ray (Elizabeth), Charles (Nancy), and Norman (Diane) Gardner; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Bruner, Billy Bruner, Trina Martin, Mitzi Skaggs, Summer Anthony, Amanda Shelton, Timothy Kinyon, Joey Kinyon, Amelia Kinyon, Wesley Karnes and Ryan Ford; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
