Obituary: Joseph Robert Nalley, 79, Bardstown

Joseph Robert Nalley, 79, of Bardstown, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025. He was born July 6, 1945, in Bardstown to the late Michael and Elizabeth “Geri” Hatfield Nalley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Viens; one brother, Jim Nalley; one sister, Vicki Greer; and his stepfather, William Earl “Dude” Hatfield.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1963 right out of high school. He served all over the world during his 27-year career and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was an avid UK sports fan and loved nothing more than cheering on his Wildcats. He was a volunteer at Bardstown Primary and Elementary Schools. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Sparkman Nalley of Bardstown; three sons, Maurice (Tracye) Nalley of Florida, Mac (Ashley) Adams of Louisville, and Jason (Mary) Adams of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Lisa (Steve) Pennington of Bloomfield; three sisters, Alice Hahn of Bardstown, Mary (Wayne) Collins of Union, and Tana Allgeier of Cox’s Creek; four brothers, Greg (Ellen) Hatfield of Gallatin, Tenn., Ronnie (Lori) Hatfield and Dwayne (Renee) Hatfield both of Bardstown, and Kevin (Glenda) Hatfield of Louisville and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
