Obituary: James Allen Wigg, 86, Cox’s Creek
James Allen Wigg, 86, of Cox’s Creek, died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 20, 1938, in Samuels to the late Jimmy and Gretchen Waterfield Wiggs. He was 1 of 2 charter members of the Bardstown Church of God and was a charter member for 50 years. He also attended Chaplin Christian Church (D.O.C.). He attended both churches faithfully and loved his church.
He was an employee of Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont and T.W. Samuels Distillery for 42 years. Hs loved to watch UK basketball and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Nelson County for the kindness and compassion they showed James.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Dennis; and one brother, Lane Wiggs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Dee Hahn Wiggs; one daughter, Dianna (Joey) Downs,of Bardstown; one son, Ricky Wiggs of Elizabethtown; two stepchildren, PJ (Nicole) Milburn and Detra (Jeff) Bryant, both of Chaplin: 10 grandchildren; severa great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at the Bardstown Church of God with Bro. Edwin Lainhart and Bro. Josh Simpson officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Bardstown Church of God on Sunday, and 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Bardstown Church of God in memory of James Allen Wiggs.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
