Obituary: William ‘Willie’ Ballard IV, 49, Bardstown

William “Willie” Ballard IV, 49, of Bardstown, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025.

He was an avid and lifelong sports fan, with a deep love for the Kentucky Wildcats and the San Francisco 49ers. His passion for sports went beyond just watching the games; it was a part of his identity and a bond he shared with many. Whether cheering on his teams from his living room or discussing the latest game with his friends, his enthusiasm for sports was infectious and brought joy to everyone around him.

He took great pride in his work as the owner of W.B. Countertops, where he built his business with dedication, pride, and a commitment to excellence. He poured his heart into every project, ensuring the highest quality for his clients and earning the respect of everyone he worked with.

Rest in peace, Willie. Your love for life, sports, and friendship will continue to inspire and be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know you.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nolan and Sally Snellen;,Betty Ballard, Randall and Sue Greer; and his uncle, Tony Snellen.

He is survived by his parents, CeCe and Donnie Greer of Bardstown and Buster Ballard of New Haven; sisters, Katie (Austin) Kennedy, of Guntersville, AL, and Kimberly (Cody) Thomas, of Lawrenceburg; his grandfather, Buddy Ballard of New Haven; his niece and nephews, Adeline, Dash, and Barrett; his special friend Carrie Heaton; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will all miss him deeply.

A celebration of his life is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025 with a 6 p.m. memorial service at the Barlow Funeral Home. Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 in the Bardstown Cemetery. Per his wishes, cremation was chosen.

Friends and family will gather to honor his memory, his legacy as a loving friend, and his passion for sports, hard work, and craftsmanship.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
