Obituary: Frances Shirley DeMar DeWitt, 94, New Haven
Frances Shirley DeMar DeWitt, 94, of New Haven died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025 and went to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday February 4, 2025 at her home in New Haven surrounded by her family.
She was was born Sept. 23, 1930, in New Haven to the late James William “Jim” and Mary Alice Mattingly DeMar.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister.
She retired as a clerk from IGA with numerous years of service. She loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Eugene DeWitt; one daughter, Helen DeWitt; one great-great-grandson, Isaiah Cummins; two brothers, J.E. DeMar and Kenny DeMar; four sisters, Gertie Vernon, Ivy DeWitt, Mary Ann Rust, and Carmey Price; two sons-in-law, Roger Lamkin and Bob Joe Burba.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Donald) Holbert, Karen Burba and Denise DeWitt, all of New Haven; five sons, William Lloyd Blain Jr., Ricky (Joannie) DeWitt, Freddy (Pam) DeWitt, Pat (Christy) DeWitt, all of New Haven and Paul (Pam) DeWitt of Waddy; one sister, Celie Weyrauch of Louisville; one brother, Arnold (Rita) DeMar of Louisville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at St. Catherine Church with the Rev. Kirby Rust officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home New Haven Chapel.
