Obituary: William Robert ‘Bill’ Smith, 83, Springfield

William Robert “Bill” Smith, 83, of Lakeview Drive, Springfield, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville. He was the shop foreman at Newcomb Oil Co. in Bardstown for several years.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Dale) Bartley of Springfield; one son, Tim (Renee) Smith of Springfield; two sisters, Carolyn Smith Dean of Springfield and Sandy Smith of Bardstown; two brothers, Lonnie (Ann) Smith and Donnie Smith, both of Lebanon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, and 7-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025 at the Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Monday prayer service.

The Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield is entrusted with arrangements.
