Obituary: James ‘Jim’ Francis Mattingly, 78, Boston

James “Jim” Francis Mattingly, 78, of Boston, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. He was born April 10, 1946 in St. Francis to the late John Marion and Catherine Lucille Mattingly.

He was a past master of the Masonic Salt River Lodge 180 and Masonic Bloomfield Lodge 57. He was a commander of the Bloomfield American Legion post and ran their fish fry every Friday.

He enjoyed old cars, going to car shows, and farming. He was very proud to have served in the U.S. Navy, and proud of others who have served. He touched a lot of people’s lives, and visiting family and friends, which meant the most to him.

He was preceded by his parenets; one son; parents; one sisterp; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Mattingly of Boston; two daughters; four stepchildren; several grandchildren; 10 siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with military honors with Chaplain Ray Johnson officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2025 and 59-11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 15, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with a Masonic service 6:30 p.m.Friday.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
