Obituary: George Monroe Roberts, 94, Bardstown

George Monroe Roberts, 94, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born April 18, 1930, in Bardstown to the late Ora Xavier and Agnes Effie Hutchins Roberts.

He was a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and American Legion Post #121.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Catherine Roberts; his second wife, Chester Mae Luckett Roberts; one sister, Gladys Elizabeth Ball; six brothers, John C. Roberts, Joseph Leroy Roberts, Hubert Roberts, George M. Roberts, Charles Roberts, and William Harry “Bill” Roberts.

He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Marie (Bill) Blalock of Greenwood, Ind. and Margaret Ann Willett of Louisville; one son, Ronald Lee “Wilma” (Susan) Willett of Lebanon; one granddaughter, Kelsey Briana Blalock of Greenwood, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Brandon DeToma officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 9-12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
