Obituary: John C. Hutchins Jr., 79, Bardstown

John C. Hutchins Jr., 79, of Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at his home. He was born Sept. 15, 1945, in Louisville.

He retired from Bird & Son Vinyl. He was owner of JCH Landscaping and was a lifelong farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Thomas Men’s Club, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the DAV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Helen Hutchins; and two brothers, Calvin Hutchins and Ernie Hutchins.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Hutchins; two daughters, Kim Hall (Mark) and Katrina Hutchins (Chad Smith); three sisters, Reva Cook (George), Nancy Cecil (Wayne), and Helen Allen; five brothers, Robert Hutchins (Nina), Terry Hutchins (Lori), Sam Hutchins (Saundra), Steve Hutchins, and Ben Hutchins (Angie); one sister-in-law, Cathy Hutchins; two grandchildren, Alex Hall and Kaitlyn Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Wednesday prayer service.

Donations may go to Hospice of Nelson County or St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
