Obituary: B. Frederick ‘Rick’ Arendt, 82, Holy Cross

B. Frederick “Rick” Arendt, 82, of Holy Cross, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born April 11, 1942, in Park Ridge, Ill. He formerly worked as a construction project manager. He was a Master Gardener and loved growing daffodils and dahlias. He enjoyed looking at old classic cars. He was also an avid reader and trivia buff.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Arendt; and his parents, Frederick and Ruth Talcott Arendt.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judy Kolar Arendt; one sister, Julianne Putman (Steve) of Fishers, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Rudy Kolar of Kyoto, Japan; one niece, Anna Shults of Fishers, Ind.; many cousins; and his beloved dog, Stan Lee.

Cremation was chosen. Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto.

Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
