Obituary: Paul Douglas Mattingly, 60, Fisherville

Paul Douglas Mattingly, 60, of Fisherville, died peacefully in the company of his family at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

PAUL DOUGLAS MATTINGLY

He was a graduate of Jeffersontown High School. He worked as a construction heavy machine operator, primarily for Hall Construction. He was also trained in auto mechanics, and was known as a “jack of all trades.” He loved “living on the edge,” as he put it, and experiencing life at its fullest. His recent baptism reinforced the fact that he lived a Christian life. He never met a stranger and was always quick to strike up a conversation or lend a helping hand. He was completely devoted to caring for his parents, especially his mother after the passing of his father in 2015.

He will be truly missed by his family, friends, treatment team and caregivers at Norton Hospital and Cancer Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. Paul Mattingly.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Ann Cornish Mattingly of Fisherville; two sisters, Christy Bell (Timothy) of Rineyville and Sylvia Mattingly of New Albany, Ind.; three nephews, Kenny (Deonna) Brown, Paul (Tory) Brown and Joey (Destiney) Brown; one niece, Jessica Sipes;12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and a multitude of friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8,, 2025, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Timothy Bell officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the funeral home.
