Tuesday morning fire sparked by HVAC unit damages Bardstown nursing home

Tuesday, March 4, 2025 — One wing of Bardstown Health and Rehab, the long term care faciility formerly known as Landmark of Bardstown and Lifecare of Bardstown located at 120 Lifecare Way, was damaged this morning by fire.
At 6:37 Tuesday morning Nelson County EMS dispatched emergency units include fire. law enforcement and EMS to the rehab facility for a fire believed to have started in an HVAC wall unit in the facility’s west wing.
According to a Bardstown Fire press release, 15 nursing home residents were transported to area hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation. Thirty-eight additional residents were evacuated by Nelson County school buses to the company’s sister facility in Louisville.
One police officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Fire crews had the fire under control within minutes of their arrival, and prevented the fire from spreading into the attic area. Firefighters entered the facility to be sure all residents were out of the building.
In addition to the Bardstown Fire Department, and Nelson County Fire and Rescue, mutual aid from Bullitt, Washington and Spencer County.
