Obituary: Deborah Sue ‘Debbie’ Leake, 69, Raywick
Deborah Sue “Debbie” Leake, 69, of Raywick, died Monday, March 3, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. She was born July 1, 1955, in Marion County.

She formerly worked as a nurse at the Loretto Motherhouse and cherished her time working there and caring for her patients. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. She held her faith close to her heart. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She enjoyed bingo, casino trips, and playing cards with family and friends. She was an avid UK fan. She loved her family fiercely and had a heart of gold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Viola Payne Fields; three siblings, Ann Hunt, Jeanette Mattingly, and infant Michael John Fields; her father-in-law and mother in-law, Dickie and Nancy Leake; four brothers-in-law, Ronnie, Eddie, and Tommy Leake and Pete Mattingly; two sisters-in-law, Iris Clark and Helen Leake.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Freddy Leake; three daughers, Gwen Unseld (Rob) of Raywick, Angie Leake (Erin Ballard) of Bardstown and Lakeisha Withrow (Jamie) of Loretto; one son, Justin Leake (Christy) of Saint Francis; three sisters, Faye Buckler of Springfield, Peggy Lee (Jackie) of Saint Mary’s, and Brenda Fields of Springfield; one brother, Ricky Fields (Beverly) of Raywick; six grandchildren, Matthew, Poynter, Zachary Poynter, Kendra Withrow, Kaylee Withrow, Jacob Withrow, and Elijah Withrow; three stepgrandchildren, Ronnie Joe Wheat, Shelby Unseld and Rob Unseld; three sisters-in-law, Narelle Collins (Joe), Serena Mattingly, and Karen Mattingly (Jake); three brothers-in-law, Sherman Leake (Aline), Alvin Leake, and Don Clark.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Raywick with the Rev. Scott J. Wimsett officiating. Burial is the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2024 at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials donations may go to Hosparus Health Green River.
Pallbearers are Matthew Poynter. Zachary Poynter, Jacob Withrow, Mitchell Mattingly, Ronnie Mattingly, Shane Mattingly, Brian Mattingly and Michael Leake. Honorary pallbearers are Kendra Withrow, Kaylee Withrow, Elijah Withrow, Ronnie Joe Wheat, Shelby Unseld, Rob Unseld, Zach Shepperson, Cameron Pittman, Kenzie Sapp, and all her nieces and nephews.
The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
