James ‘J.E.’ Crume, 90, Bardstown

James “J.E.” Crume, 90, of Bardstown, died Friday Oct. 21, 2011 at Life Care Center of Bardstown.  He was born March 13, 1921 in Nelson County. He was retired from Samuels Motor Co. and Heaven Hill Distillery, a member of Duval Masonic Lodge # 6, and Botland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and enjoyed playing his guitar and farming.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Mildred Crume; second wife of five years, Ruby Peavler; his parents, Jeston and Anna Bell Crume; two sisters, Edith Holt and Edna Mae Goodwin; and a brother, Ray Crume.

He is survived by three daughters, Janice Adams of Bardstown, Jean Lewis of Cox’s Creek, and Jane Crume of Bardstown; one son, George Crume of League City, Texas; three brothers, Jackie Crume of Boston, Gene Crume of Owensboro, and Bobby Crume of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.  Rev. Jerry Bennett will officiate.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home.  A Masonic service will be held 7 pm Monday evening.

Memorial contributions may go to Botland Christian Church (D.O.C.).
