Obituary: Mary Bernice Thomas, 82, Chaplin
Mary Bernice Thomas, 82, of Chaplin, died Friday, March 7, 2025, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born May 11, 1942, in Washington County to the late Calvin and Mary Royalty Bowen.

She was a homemaker and home health caregiver. She was a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother and she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Redmon Thomas; and five siblings, Virginia Valley, Juanita Mitchell, Celeste Robinson, Raymond Bowen and Naamon Bowen.
She is survived by three daughters, Kim (Brent) Hahn of Chaplin, and Karen (Greg) Catlett and Kelly (John) Roby, both of Bardstown; one son, Keith Thomas of Lexington; two sisters, Lula Euliano and Norma Royalty, both of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Calvin Bowen of Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren, Chad (Kati) Hahn, Krista Bartley, Nicolette (Justin) Knuckles, Madison (Darryl) Tarver, Lauren Catlett, Cameron Roby, Ethan (McKenna) Roby, Hallie Thomas and James Corey Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Tanner Cornell, Andrew Bartley, Evie Hahn and Liam Hahn and several special nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Leland Parks officiating. Burial is in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the funeral home.
The Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
